Taijiquan Foundations, Volumes 2, 4 & 5

I'm in the midst of writing the script for Volume 2 with Volume 4 in the planing stages.

Volume 2 will continue from where Volume 1 finished and will include the following: the three external harmonies (wrist/ankle, elbow/knee, shoulder/hip), kinematics (range of motion and joint type) of the major joints, relevance of kinematics to Taiji forms and applications, movement of the dan tian in six directions (up, down, left, right, forward, back), silk reeling as a means of coordinating the parts of the body, the two circles that form the basis for nearly all form movements, push hands and applications.

Volume 4 will be an introduction to two-person work (push hands) and provide some examples of the relevance of Taiji stick training to two-person work.

Volume 5 will teach, in detail, a short Chen style Taijiquan form, showing how to incorporate in the practice of forms the elements taught in the earlier Volumes of the series.

I don't have a specific time table for completing these additional Volumes.

Taijiquan (Tai Chi) Foundations is a progressive series of instructional videos aimed at explicitly teaching basics or foundations upon which the art of Taijiquan relies for both health and martial effectiveness.

Taijiquan is an “experiential” pursuit: understanding of it comes not from long philosophical discussion, but, rather, from correct practice. Throughout the videos in the series, the focus is on a progression of exercises and explanations - in simple, common language - that lead the viewer towards first-hand experience of the basic principles of the art of Taijiquan. The content and curriculum of the videos is what I wish I had been taught in the way I wish I had been taught.
